3 Months

Dear Guppy,
Sorry I am late in posting this but well as you know we have just moved and life is starting to get back to normal.

As you can tell you are pretty big laying next to your favorite teddy bear. Thank you again Annie!
You have recently found the joys of rolling over onto your tummy. Let me rephrase that Dad and I think it is great you are not really convinced of it yet. The first time you did it on your own was the day we were moving out of our old apartment you were showing off to the Elder's quorum.  Now I know its the macho thing to show off for the boys but next time you do a big developmental milestone, do you mind waiting till your mother is in the room?

You are much more aware of your surroundings. You love to go on walks and watch the leaves on the trees dance in the wind. Your still not sure about cars but you sure do love the trees! When we take you anywhere you are very social. You love to chat (and drool) up a storm with anyone willing to lend an ear.

You are also grasping things on purpose. You love your rattle and making sure that it ends up having the life sucked out of it. You also love to "help" with your bottle and then get upset if it is not in your mouth. You love Dad's fingers. You would suck on those all day if you had a choice.

Your other favorite activity to do is holding on to our fingers and "stand." It is a very wabble stand but you love it. You also recently discovered that if you lift your foot you move. Someday that will turn into walking but no pressure to do that anytime soon. Lets just keep to the basics first.

We love you mucho mucho! Thank you for choosing us as your parents and we are so excited what other fun tricks you have in store for us in this next month = )

Love you,
Mom

Family Pictures...Not Really

Your Dad is a quarter Mexican. Don't let the appearance fool you, because he is deceivingly white! Well just to let you know we have a running joke with your Grandma Moffat that your Dad is also African because she didn't believe that he was Mexican. So your dad decided to be creative and come up with this on family pictures.

Oh that Daddy of yours is quite creative.

How to Survive Hiccups

The other night you had hiccups for the first time. A little strange considering it was in me and I wasn't the one with hiccups. But as your Daddy said "You are really going to hate them you you get out!" Since most likely this will be the case you thought we'd give you a top ten list of things you could do to cure your hiccups.

Top Ten Ways to Cure Hiccups
  1. Take a deep, long breath and hold it for 10 seconds and then let it out slowly. Repeat 2-3 times.
  2. Drink a whole glass of water without stopping and plug your nose. (First need to work on holding a glass to get this one done)
  3. Drink a glass of water upside down. (Your dad claims this one works, has yet to work for me)
  4. Take a spoonful of sugar and stick the spoon in your mouth. Suck on the spoon of sugar for 5 seconds and than take a sip of water.
  5. Have someone scary you.
  6. Drink a 1/2 teaspoon of pickle juice every 7-10 seconds until Hiccups stop. (You might want gum or mints on hand after this one)
  7. Smell vinegar for 10 seconds. (This might burn your nasal cavity. Just warning you)
  8. Suck in your stomach for 10 seconds and release very quickly. Repeat as needed.
  9. Lay down facing up on a large, flat, and even surface. Stay down for 2-5 minutes.
  10. Lean your head back. Put a penny on your forehead and wait till they go away.
Honestly, I am sure a lot of it is just waiting for the hiccups to runs its course but you are more than welcome to see if they work. Just like the Calvin and Hobbs comic said, I am sure a lot of these methods are for the entertainment of others.

Love you,
Mom

This is Papa speaking

Guppy!!
Hi!!! Your mom and I are way excited for you to get here! You will arrive in about 11 weeks! We are trying to get everything ready for your arrival. Just want to let you know how excited we are for you to come. We love you so much and are just waiting for you to get here so we can hold you and see you!
Your last doctors appointment went well. We heard your heart beat and it was strong as ever. The doctor said that your heart was healthy and that you were doing real good. Your mom is tired a lot because your getting heavier and moving around a lot, which sometimes keeps her up at night. However, keep growing and develop well and we will see you when you get here!
Your mom posted a song from Veggie Tales, it is about cheeseburgers. Mainly because that is what she has been craving since the second trimester. The first trimester was Mexican food. Now that you are getting closer the craving is still cheeseburgers. So your mom posted that song to remind you that is what you wanted for the majority of the time you were developing!
Know that we love you and are way excited for you to be here in 11 weeks! Or in about 2 and a half months. We will try our best to be good parents, but it is our first time so you might have to be patient with us because we are learning what is going on! Love you mucho, mucho!!
Love, Papa!

Your Theme Song

Dear Guppy

Knowing Your There

Dear Guppy,
I wanted to start your own blog in hopes that I would be better at documenting this wonderful event that is taking place in both of our lives. You developing. Dad and I getting ready to welcome you to the world. Of course I started this blog but never found the time to update...actually update is the wrong word, more like start posting stuff. Here we are...Home alone and all I could think of to do is finally start this blog. I think you approve because you just kicked me.
Its very surreal that you are only about 2-3 inches away from me. Granted those 2-3 inches are not easy to get through, but just knowing you are that close is surreal. Every time I look down and see the bump that use to be my belly, it makes me smile because I can't wait to meet you. Dad and I always talk about what you are going to be like, what grand adventures we want to take you on, what little nuggets of wisdom can we give you and in return what little nuggets of wisdom are we going to receive from you.  We are just so excited to meet you!
Take it easy on us though we don't really know what we are doing. I mean we have a good idea but we are learning just like you. Just our lessons involve getting to know you and your lessons involve getting to know the world. Just be patient with us and hopefully we won't completely screw this up.
What other information can I give you on your first blog post? We have decided to name you Collin Lowell Sawyer. The name Collin because it means of a triumphant people, dove, and (I think is the real reason your Dad likes this name) good looks. We decided to spell it with two L's because well Dad liked it better that way and it is the Scottish way of spelling it. Grandpa Moffat loves that! We chose Lowell because it was my Grandpa Anderson's first name. It means little wolf. I also really liked this name because well I am hoping Grandpa Anderson and Grandpa Moffat are training you to come down. Its sad that they won't be here in person but I hope you are getting to know them in the spirit world because they really are great men.
We also chose this name because I had a dream during Christmas break that is what we named you. Then when we returned to Utah, we went to the temple and it just felt right to give you that name. I don't if this is going to happen to all of your siblings but I am glad it happened with you. I really hope you like your name and I hope it means something to you.
We have also decided to decorate your room with animal theme. Mostly African animals because well your Mom really wants take you there someday. Since we can't afford it right now we decided to bring it to you. We hope you like adventures and the outside! Maybe you could be the modern Indian Jones. I would be okay with that, especially if you keep the original theme that John Williams wrote. You don't know who that is...don't worry we will introduce you to him. Just know he is one of the great cinema composers.
Lets see what else do you like? You love cheeseburgers! I don't think I have ever eaten this many cheeseburgers in my life! Thank goodness most fast food places have them on their dollar menus! You use to like Mexican food but not as much. Well maybe you do but not mommies acid reflux. Probably to much information but hey I thought you might want to know.
Well that is all I can think of to tell you thus far. I hope you are developing well and getting ready for the big day! Once again we are really excited to meet you. I will try to start updating your blog so you know what is going on. Just know that we love you and we are hoping that you are just as excited to meet us. We hope you feel safe and secure.
Love Mom
